Samtskhe-Javakheti is a predominantly agricultural region, where over 60% of the population's cash income is provided by agricultural production. The agricultural sector is the biggest employer in Georgia as a whole, but productivity levels remain low. Therefore today, more than ever before, farmers and rural entrepreneurs need to be well informed about product development, new technology, selection of machinery and equipment, and marketing of agricultural goods and services.
At the Rural Advisory Service (RAS) of Samtskhe-Javakheti and the adjacent ‘Farmer' shop farmers and agricultural producers can receive professional advice on agricultural and legal issues, training and publications, alongside high quality agricultural inputs and machinery.
