Onion

Traditionally, onion is produced by the sets in our region. The process is labour consuming and is connected with additional expenses. RAS arranged demonstration plot in 2011 applied various modern technologies for production of onion. The demonstration plot was selected in the village Tsnisi. The technology considered direct planting of onion with specialized seeder, which was planted the bulbs by the certain intervals.

The technology considered timely treatment of herbicides and other pesticides, relevant feeding of the plant and irrigation by spray. Several varieties of the onion were tested, namely: Manasi, Exacta, Tetoni, Ditone. The technology gives farmers possibility to exclude manual labour. Those varieties are high productive and on average 80 tons are produced per ha
