RAS designs demonstration plots as a showcase of the use of new technology and new seed varieties leading to increased production. Demonstration plots were set up in visible places, on the property of experienced and interested farmers. 44 demo plots were organised in 13 villages in 2007, and 38 plots were set up in 26 villages in 2008.
Open Days were organised on the most successful demonstration plots. During the Open Days the technology used at the plot was explained and demonstrated to farmers from different villages interested in the product. A total of 45 open days were held in 2007 and 2008, and over 1,100 farmers learnt from the demonstrations.
RAS has organised demonstration plots of the following crops: high quality potato seed, hybrid cucumber, cultivated raspberry, cultivated blackberry, Alfalfa cattle fodder, hybrid tomato, nantes-type carrots and dwarf apples; and livestock demonstrations on: treatment of livestock against parasites; broiler production; and production of meat rabbit breads. Through the demonstration plots RAS helped farmers achieve significant increase in the production and raise farmers' incomes.
